Ruby Westervelt (Jemstone Arts) is currently in her third year of college at Kutztown University, working towards getting a BFA in ceramics with an Art History minor. She identifies herself as a dedicated glaze chemist who enjoys exploring usability and aesthetics through bold experimentation. Challenging the viewer to think about beauty from a different perspective and explore what makes something beautiful is something that has always driven her to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Many of her pieces differ in their formal qualities, yet each explores messy materials and relatable subjects from everyday life.
"I embrace the unpredictability of experimentation, constantly exploring different forms, subjects, and materials."
